Q: What is a Re-Light lamp? 

Northstar AV’s Re-Light Projector Lamps are brand new lamps inside OEM projector housings. We only install the highest quality OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Lamps - Philips, Osram/Sylvania & SHP brand lamps inside the OEM housings.  All of the expired components are recycled.  We DO NOT sell generic or compatible replacement lamps.  Discover significant cost savings while experiencing the same use for life and performance out of a Re-Light bulb. 

Q: What is the Re-Light Service?

A: The Re-Light service is the same as a Re-Light lamp except we do not currently have the housing in stock.  However this is not the end of the road.  We are still able to service your original housing if it is shipped to us.  Purchasing the Re-Light service is an acknowledgement that we are out of stock and the lamp must be shipped to Northstar AV for service at the cost of the customer.   


Q: Is the price the same between a Re-Light lamp and the Re-Light Service? 

A: Yes! The price is the same either way.  However, if a Re-Light lamp is purchased we ask that you send your old lamp back to us so it can be recycled properly.   This is not mandatory just a request.


Q: What types/models of projector lamps can be serviced?

A: Northstar AV is able to service about 97% of all the UHP type lamps on the market.  The majority of projectors manufactured for home theater and business use today use a UHP type burner. We are continuously working to improve our service.  At this time this is a copy of our Can Not Do list. Any questions - just give us a call or e-mail us to make sure it can be serviced.


Q: How long is a Re-Light projector lamp covered under the Northstar AV warranty?

A: The advantage of selling OEM lamps means we are able to pass along the manufacturers’ warranty.  Every Re-Light brand lamp is covered under a full 90-day warranty.   Our top priority is complete satisfaction of all our customers. If there is a problem, or if you are not satisfied, please call or e-mail us for a return merchandise authorization number. We cannot accept returns without this authorization number. You will never encounter a hassle when trying to return or exchange an item.


Q: Is the performance from a Re-Light projector lamp comparable to that of a new projector lamp?

A: Since all of the working components are replaced with brand new ones, you can expect identical performance, output and lifetime.



Q: I have projector lamps from projectors I no longer use. Should I throw them out?

A: All projector lamps contain mercury, a toxic metal, and must be disposed of properly or recycled. Northstar AV offers a projector lamp recycling program. Send in your old projector lamps, and we will recycle them, free of charge. Remember, federal and local governments require proper disposal and/or recycling of any item that contains mercury.



Q: How do I get my projector bulb serviced?

A: It's very simple!  Purchase the corresponding Re-Light Service off our website and include it in the box with your lamp.  Ship it to us at Northstar AV 859 Connetquot ave, Suite 2 Islip Terrace NY 11752.  See, we said it’s simple.



Q: Do you Service Xenon projectors?

A: We can service some Xenon projectors. Please call or email us for more information.


















Q: I heard a pop and there is broken glass inside my lamp.  Does it still qualify for the re-light service?

A: In most cases- yes! Projector lamps that have exploded (blown) can usually be serviced.


Q: What if my lamp is too damaged to be repaired, will I still be charged?


A: No we will contact you and give you the option to either recycle it or have it returned to you at no charge.



Q: How long will it take to get my lamp back?


A: Northstar AV operates on a first come first serve basis.  Our average turnaround time is 3 to 5 days from receiving your lamp.


Q: 3 to 5 days is too long, can I get it sooner?

A: Of course you can!  We offer an expedited service for just that reason.  The expedite service is an additional $35 and includes overnight return shipping.  If you would like to take advantage of this option please select it during check out.
